Sistah Care (SC) is a high chool health career exploratory and academic support program for female students 13 -17 years of age, who are interested in pursuing a career in midwifery, nursing and other maternal and child health professions such as obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics, doulas, and other professionals.
Above: Sistah Care students participate in a clinical day in partnership with the University of Portland School of Nursing in 2004.The students spent the day learning about prenatal care with nursing students and examining pregnant women from the community. With the nursing shortage in Portland, Sistah Care is a vital link to closing the gap and helping to increase diversity at the same time.
