FAQs > Training > What makes the Full Circle Doula training unique?

Full Circle Doula training is an intensive. The history of black midwives, Full Circle Doula philosophy, prenatal care, labor, birth, postpartum care and the doula business are covered in 3.5 days. Infant mortality, community outreach and advocacy are central to each component of the training. Training is highly interactive and presented in a traditionally, culturally and spiritually specific environment. Full Circle Doula training was developed by a Shafia Monroe, a certified midwife, health educator and community activist, and is based on a midwife model of care. Graduates of Full Circle Doula training receive a 'provisional doula' certificate. ICTC allows 24 months from the graduation date for certification completion. Full Circle Doula training is open to all and does not discriminate.
